Your proposed scenario of the M2 self destructing and falling off the tower
is a far stretch... The M2 is already dependent upon the mechanical support of
insulators... A few more will not degrade that assuming they are installed
competently...
Certainly relays and insulators add failure points, yet many commercial
arrays for 80 and 160 contain them... The 80M beams in ON4UN's book contain
relays and insulators... With a bit of planning the modified M2 beam will be
reliable...
