Well, I have to confess that I don't know exactly what the term "wire rope"
means, but I successfully used 7x19 galvanized aircraft control cable (both
3/16" and 1/4") for guys for 30 years. This makes wonderful guy cables
without any stretch that I've noted. If straight 19-stand wire rope is
different OK, but then it shouldn't be confused with aircraft control cable.
I terminate this with either Nicopress fittings or Crosby Clips. It is so
much more flexible and easier to use than the standard 7-strand EHS.

Do not use 19 strand wire rope. It is designed for a different
application (runs around pulleys, etc), and comes in many different designs
(Warrington vs Seale cross-sections, right regular, right lang, etc.). All
of them have particular advantages and disadvantages for specific
applications. For OUR application (tower guy wire), 19-strand wire rope is
too stretchy.
Seven strand wire rope contains one straight WSC (wire strand core) and
six surrounding strands, and all strands are the SAME diameter.
THIS is what you want for tower guys. It has much lower stretch than other
wire rope designs (except solid rod).
You want right lay (when viewed from above, the strands rotate to the
right as they recede away from the observer), the most common form. If you
use Grips, you must use the correct version of Grips for the lay of the guy.
Doesn't McMaster have galvanized EHS seven strand cable or cable clips?
