From: "Cecil Moore" <w5dxp@hotmail.com> I wasn't very clear here. The only argument I am presenting is whether to install a 1:1 current-choke-balun at a balanced to unbalanced junction where the impedance is unknown and the amount of unbalance is unknown. It is not only good engineering practice to install the 1:1 current-choke-balun but also to choose a design where the differential transmission line currents do not induce appreciable flux in the ferrite. A 1:1 current-choke-balun can indeed simultaneously perform the choking function and the balun function. That's how a W2DU balun works and W8JI recommends 1:1 current-choke-baluns in applications where the impedances are unknown. -- 73, Cecil, w5dxp.com _________________________________________________________________ Valentine?s Day -- Shop for gifts that spell L-O-V-E at MSN Shopping http://shopping.msn.com/content/shp/?ctId=8323,ptnrid=37,ptnrdata=24095&tcode=wlmtagline _______________________________________________ _______________________________________________ TowerTalk mailing list TowerTalk@contesting.com http://lists.contesting.com/mailman/listinfo/towertalk |
