I have several 'torch' style lamps with halogen bulbs including the dimmers.
The halogen lamps don't make noise but the dimmers sure do!!
You might be able to RFI proof the dimmers but why take a chance?
I wouldn't have any dimmers installed permanently in the house by the
contractor.
You can have lamps with dimmers built in but you can unplug them if they
give you trouble.

Subject: [TowerTalk] Query RFI
Before someone jumps my case, I am posting here because I know you TTalkers
are after the really weak ones.
I am told that low halogens are BIG generators of noise.
Is that really true?
On the same note, what about light dimmer switches?
We are building a new house, and I need to establish some intelligent
positions with my builder right away.
