GE RTV-162 and RTV-167 are MIL-Spec Electronic Grade RTVs that do not
involve Ascetic acid. 162 is white and stays pretty flexible while 167 is
grey and cures to a stiffer consistency.
I've used these for quite a few years for staking components to boards and
sealing gaps in enclosures. No ill effects.
The shelf life can be increased by storing in the kitchen freezer.
These crop up from time to time on ebay for pretty good prices. Retail at
plastics distributors they're something like 10 to 12 bucks for a three oz.
tube. A little pricey but not so much as replacing corroded electronics.
