<<Hmmm,
Maybe a couple of: "DANGER HIGH RF AREA, known to cause cancer via immediate
absorption of RF in the human body" signs would be useful.>>
I hope this was a joke. There has never been any legitimate scientific
proof that RF causes cancer and there never will be, because RF is
nonionizing radiation. All the power line EMF scares; all the cell phones
cause cancer scares, and so on, have been misguided hoaxes, perpetuated by
people who are ignorant and suspicious of science, industry, the medical
field, the electric power industry and/or who have anti-antenna agendas so
they can use health as a justification for opposing cell phone towers.
These myths take on the status of urban legends masquerading as truth due in
part to politicians who want to get reelected, so they go along with
misguided activist groups, and a handful of "experts," who have made careers
of studying health and electromagnetic fields. These studies _always_
present vague nebulous results and conclude with the claim more studies are
needed, i.e. give us more money. This scam has been going on now for 30
years. Unfortunately, the FCC has bent to the will of politicians and have
come up with exposure limits which are a joke. Ask any broadcaster who has
spent decades up at the top of Sears, Hancock, Empire how his cancer is
doing; Ask any VOA engineer the same.
The last thing hams need is to promote this nonsense (some hams believe
it!!) and cause more pointless problems on top of BPL, and HOA CC&R
restrictions.
