most rods are machined at the ends to make them pointy, but usually one end
is fairly blunt compared to the opposite end. before driving in, take the
end that is the most conical and file it down until it has a real point on
it and drive that end in. It will go through below grade junk such as
bricks, and chunks of concrete a lot better and really makes the job easier
if you are driving it in without a machine.
