>Bare will corrode pretty quickly in most environments. I'd go with the >enameled wire myself. I've heard this repeated many times, but it's not true in my 1st hand experience. Whether in my lawn, or buried under the leaf mold in my damp pine/deciduous forest out back, the el-cheapo aluminum electric fence wire (~#18?) is still in fine shape after 8 years.
