Hi all,

Before too long I'll be starting to work on my low-band antennas this
year, but I've got a somewhat complex situation that I could use some
guidance on from the assembled braintrust.

I'm on about 1/3 of an acre in suburbia, with a somewhat
heavily-treed lot in places and wild brush around one perimeter; the
house is more or less centred on the lot, and my 70' crank up is
right behind the house.

In one corner of the lot sits an 80 foot plus spruce up which I want
to put up my inverted L for 160. In the opposite corner of the back
yard is a clearing that I can put up a BiggIR vertical.

The question becomes what do I do with the radials? I haven't
grounded the tower yet (boy, have those recent t-storms been FUN!),
and the plan for *that* is three radials with 16-foot spaced 8'
ground rods, each about 33' or so with #4 wire. Good so far. But how
should I setup the two low-band radial fields, and how should their
grounds tie into the tower's lightning ground safely and effectively?
I'm having a real problems "seeing the big picture" here, especially
with respect to lightning ground and RF ground for all these systems.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,

Peter,
W2IRT
