Hi all,
Sorry if it's slightly off topic, but I read something this past weekend
that deserves mentioning.
On page 93 in the November 8, 2005 issue of PC Magazine, John C. Dvorak lead
his "Inside Track" article with a kudos for all the HAMs out there that
helped out in the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. A full 1/4 of this
regular column was dedicated to this. Also, the highlighted byline is "The
most overlooked participants in Katrina relief were the ham radio folks.
Bush should give them all medals."
Not often are HAMs mentioned in the media...even less often is when HAMs are
praised in the media as most "news worthy" items are typically how a HAM is
lowering property values by raising an antenna support structure.
On a side note, this issue also covers "20 Years of Windows" and has a
timeline that covers a lot of the IT innoventions that have occured since
the first version of Microsoft Windows came out. Probably the best issue of
PC Magazine to come out in quite a while.
