I have had very good experience for 8 years with ZRC Cold Galvanizing of
several towers. ZRC advertises that they have the only such product approved
by
the US Government as equivalent to hot dip treatment. I used steel brush or
sandblasting preparation for any rusted surface.

Two coats of ZRC hold up well. No rust has shown up anywhere that was
properly prepared. The ZRC seems to be more vulnerable to abrasion (e.g.,
lifting
with a steel chain) than hot dip surfaces.

ZRC seems easy to apply with a roller, brush or mit.
