Les Moxon (G6XN, SK) would have been delighted with that application of 
his ideas.

He always liked to think of 2-element beams being instantly reversible. 
If the two elements are made identical, the beam can be reversed by 
switching feedlines/stubs. The bigger the beam, the bigger the benefit - 
especially with a side mount, as has just been pointed out.

A half-hour with NEC might produce some interesting possibilities.
