To me, at least, it's worth more than a couple hundred dollars. But does
that mean that safety equipment only works if I pay top dollar for it?
If I can get a better deal, I can buy equipment that keeps me safe in
more situations.
But did you miss my conclusion that Dan's price actually sounds good now
that I've compared it with other options?

into the ever-growing pot of cybersoup:
> How much is your life worth?
>>When I read that AN Wireless charges $3 per ft. for their safety
>>lifeline system option (which includes the anchorage plates, cable
>>clamps and thimbles, and turnbuckle, in addition to the cable)
>>
>>http://www.anwireless.com/lifeline.html
>>
>>to be used in conjuction with the gizmo that grabs onto the cable
>>
>>http://www.anwireless.com/ascender.html
>>
>>it struck me as a terrible price, and I wondered whether I could get the
>>cable, thimbles, and turnbuckle for muuch less locally and buy just the
>>anchorage plates from Dan.
>>
>>So far, the largest such cable I have found around here is only 5/16"
>>(vs. Dan's 3/8" cable), and it costs $2.43 per ft. anyway.
>>
>>So, unless I am missing something, Dan's price for the whole kit and
>>kaboodle is pretty good.
