I have heard that it is on the order of 3 dbi that was when I asked the
question 5 years ago the other question is the added expense of the  wire
worth it. 
When the antenna was analyzed in comparison to above ground several hams
went with the above ground due to the added cost 30,000 feet of wire for
ground grid screen on 160m.

I have heard that comparisons of 4 square systems showed that ones that
were ground mounted with radials performed better than those that are
elevated.
