The powerful XELO was located on 800 KHz (kcs, in those days).
The original owner/engineer was killed when he opened the cage and the 17
KV zapped him in the head.
Best I recall, the filament for all those tubes were powered by a
motor/generator set and rectifier delivering 133 amps. Room was
a bit isolated because of X-Ray concerns.
Sorry to hear that it somewhere else on the band. OTOH, wish some of
the "new" high powered stations south of the border would drop to 5 KW or so.
