The Hygain verticals are interesting. I've had a couple of
them, at various times. The bases are particularly good for
making single band verticals with.

I had a 6btv set up as a GP, on top of a 50' pushup mast
once. Discovered that replacing the trapped antenna with
33' of straight aluminum tube was worth something >3dB on
40 meters. (Groundwave measurement of a nearby ham's signals,
determined by varying his output power to produce the same
S meter reading in both cases, and measuring the power
difference in his bird wattmeter.)

I've compared an R7000 against a full sized elevated GP on
40 meters, in an honest A/B comparison. The differences
were small. Never measured the R8, but it ought to be as
good or better than the R7k.
