Keith,The general rule-of-thumb for ground rod spacing is simple and effective. Space the rods twice the length of each rod and tie them together with copper strapping, or heavy copper wire using 'one-shots'... For example, space 4 foot rods 8 feet apart, and 8 foot rods 16 feet apart. This spacing is suggested due to the effective circular field of each individual ground rod and not to have any interaction between ground rods. Polyphaser makes a great ground rod bracket for copper strapping. Erico makes 'one-shots' to weld heavy copper wire to ground rods. 73, Larry - W1GOR ----- Original Message ----- From: "Keith Dutson" <kjdutson@earthlink.net> Subject: RE: [TowerTalk] There's 'ground', and then there's 'ground' There are already two 8 foot rods just outside the window. Why would I need more? And if the argument is for better grounding, please indicate your thoughts of the percentage of reduction in impedance I would get in Texas Gulf Coast sandy loam (5 feet over iron ore clay). Thanks. _______________________________________________ See: http://www.mscomputer.com for "Self Supporting Towers", "Wireless Weather Stations", and lot's more.
