Maybe you've got a pile of EMT sitting there waiting to be used (EMT is pretty darn cheap (a couple bucks a stick?))? The basic scheme that's outlined uses 6 vertical struts tied to a triangular base and top. The key is going to be how you attach the conduit to the triangles.
