Pete:
Tom's suggestion was to use a vertical radiator as tall as the proposed two
mobile whips and substitute a good ground system for the lower whip. I
heartily agree. Although a 35 x 35 lot is a little marginal for a radial
system for
80 and 40, it will be more efficient than the very short vertical dipole
proposal.
A simple solution would be a Hustler 6BTV, ground mounted, over a generous
radial system. This would have no greater visual impact than the Hustler
mobile
whip vertical dipole, have automatic bandswitching, be inexpensive and have
reasonably efficient, low angle radiation.
This is the time of year to get those radials installed! Mow the grass
short, pin the radials to the sod and next spring you'll watch the grass grow
and
totally hide them.
Good luck,
Jim W9TM
