BURY-FLEX
Interesting name. Seems like some sort of oxymoron. Just thinking of other
things that hams might bury, imagine a flexible ground rod, or water pipe,
or electrical conduit, or Rohn SB45G Short Base Section, or ...
<just kidding>

Subject: [TowerTalk] CONNECTORS
The standard in the industry has been that cables have male connectors.
When joining cables, a double female, a PL258, is normally employed.
There is a lot of "expert commentary" about losses in adapters and in almost
all cases that is all it is, lore and has no basis in fact.
Additionally, there are imports that are as good as some of the American
manufacturers.
That said, UHF females are available from a number of vendors. RF
Industries has p/n is RFU-520-1E for RG213 series cables (9913, LMR400, RG8
and the ever popular Davis Buryflex <grin>,) retail price around $5 ea and
is a clamp type connector.
Going to another thread, one of the greatest strengths of Davis's Buryflex
is its PE plastic jacket (as opposed to PVC) that allows it to stand-up to a
wide range of hostile environments and is specifically designed for direct
burial. Buryflex is usable in a wide range of applications that require a
rugged cable that has low loss.
