my advice Mike, put up every tower and antenna you are ever going to want to put up now while you still can. it sounds to me like you are in a transition area--it is only a matter of time before the Lamborghini crowd moves in. these are people who will whine about _preexisting_ antennas, _after_ they move in. with anything that goes up after you are surrounded, you'll need a lawyer. They are organizing and complaining about Alpine Tower in N.J. that Armstrong built for crying out loud, before any of them were born, there it is in plain sight but these idiots bought houses near it anyway, oh but now they don't like it. it gets back to my comment about personal responsibility. these are people unable to blame themselves for anything. The same thing is going on with the San Francisco TV tower and now, I'm told with the TV tower mountain near Denver. 73, rob/k5uj From: "Michael Tope" <W4EF@dellroy.com> To: "Rob Atkinson, K5UJ" <k5uj@hotmail.com>,<towertalk@contesting.com> Subject: Re: [TowerTalk] Restrictions v. rural life and towers Date: Sat, 25 Sep 2004 11:57:52 -0700 It's interesting where I live here in Tujunga, Ca - Rob. We are right in the foothills of the San Gabriel mountains just a stones throw from the Angeles National Forest, but only 15 minutes from downtown LA (when the traffic is light). In the past, this community has had a reputuation for being an enclave for horse people, bikers, and other "free spirited" types. With the pressure on real estate supply, however, there are more and more mainstream pickett fence types pushing west from the more affluent communities of La Canada and La Crescenta (you can pick up a good 3/2 here for the rock bottom price of $450K that would cost you $700K+ further east). It makes for an interesting contrast. Just up the road from me is an old timer who has his workshop/junkyard in his front yard (drill presses, old kitchen appliances, an old RV, an old boat and trailer, etc). Right next to him (about 30' away) is a brand new $500,000 three story house fully landscaped and ready for Home and Garden TV :):) 73 de Mike, W4EF......................................................... ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rob Atkinson, K5UJ" <k5uj@hotmail.com> To: <towertalk@contesting.com> Sent: Saturday, September 25, 2004 11:13 AM Subject: [TowerTalk] Restrictions v. rural life and towers > One of my goals in life is to locate in a Tom R. type area and escape the > Cafe Society that the suburbs have become.
