Sure, 3/4 or 5/4 won't be quite as nice as 1/4 wave (because of the grating lobes), but, in a 4 square configuration, it might not be all that bad, in practical terms. I assume that one would drive it 3/4 wavelength out of phase. A quick simulation shows a few nulls, but they're pretty narrow, and I'll they wouldn't be all that deep on a "real" antenna, particularly if you had some slop in the phasing.


However, I think the "real" solution is to optimize the system, just like you do for a multiband yagi.
