I agree that politics DO NOT belong on this reflector. Having said that,
however, the BPL issue has NOW BECOME political precisely because the
president has come out with an idiotic policy that supports this RF plague.
Undoubtedly, staunch supporters of this president will interpret all attacks
on the BPL policy as attacks on the president. Surely some of them will be,
others will be criticism of the BPL policy, now unfortunately, also a
presidential policy. That is, thanks to the official presidential
endorsement of this "bane", the politics of this issue can no longer be
separated from this issue. But of course we already KNEW that the FCC was
not political and always enforced their rules in an even-handed fashion be
it a cber, ham, or large utility company, right?
I am not sure where some people get the idea that criticizing the president
or his policies, BPL or otherwise is an attack on America. This is pure
NONSENSE! Frankly, if the rf spectrum is subject to this widespread
destruction from BPL, the inability on a NATIONAL level of police, fire and
Ambulance and rescue squads to receive and respond to radio calls, with be
AT LEAST as bad as the damage from any terrorist attack! And this does not
include all the life-saving functions that hams, contesters and other
volunteers perform with HF and VF radios, their antennas, towers and other
equipment on many days of each year.
BPL, to me, seems like a REAL attack on America, and anyone endorsing it is
a "Clear and present danger!"
