National Electric Code (NEC) requires 8ft. Of soil coverage for ground rods. Meaning min legnth of 8ft of ground rod. But, the rod can be laid sideways in a trench, for instance. There's no requirement that it be 8 feet deep. The rod can also be bent. _______________________________________________ _______________________________________________ See: http://www.mscomputer.com for "Self Supporting Towers", "Wireless Weather Stations", and lot's more.
