When I was still in junior high school in Spokane, Washington, there was a
broadcast engineer who put a 50,000 watt station on 160, frequently.
I think the station's call was KGA, and it's normal frequency was 1610.
The station signed-off then at midnight, so he was on his own after that.
After a radio club (W7NBR) meeting, a few of use drove up to the station to
observe. All I remember is that he was getting out well, and had quite a
pile-up.
