That is why I use metal rings instead of pulleys. Seems the best place to
get them is at a farm store, in the harness section. Round, "D" shaped.
etc. They don't rust, and never have a problem with the rope in a bind!
They have sufficient girth to support the bend, and are --- get this ---
CHEAP, by comparison! About 12 years ago, I did not follow my own advice,
and put 2 marine grade pullies on my roof mounted tv masting perverted vee
holder. One boogered up within a year, with the rope down making nice-nice
with the sheeve. The other pully has gotten so corroded that when you pull
hard on the coax and wires to bring down the antenna to work on it, the
whole enchilada threatens to come tumbling down on your head. Ah well --
this will be replaced soon, as we are removing the chimney that it is
mounted upon as a part of a re-roof project. Will use RINGS only.
