Bill:
The NEC (national electric code) allows you to lay them horizontal on
top of rock if they can't be driven vertical. This is for electrical
grounding and lightning protection. I think it makes sense for RF
grounding also.

Any ideas on ground rods when you have solid shale at about 3 feet down?
Have tried to drive one 8 footer so far and got about 4 feet and that
was it. I was thinking of driving one horizontal in the basement wall?
Ideas?
