Rob:
I agree with using NoAlOx from Home Despot. I bought a small bottle
that had a brush built into the lid. And don't heavily lather the stuff
onto any joints. Thoroughly clean the joint areas (ID and OD of mating
tubing pieces) with Scotchbrite plastic scouring pad (don't use steel wool).
Then apply a small layer of NoAlOx and work it into the aluminum with a
second piece of Scotchbrite. Don't use the same piece to clean and to apply
the anti-ox.
