I read recently somewhere that tying a knot in rope reduces the tensile strength by 20% or so and with the synthetic lines can reduce as much as 60% or more. The reduction was due to how sharp the bend was. Tom Miller AC5TM ARRL Life Member CSVHF Life Member QCWA JARC |
