After years of blowing in the wind, the solder connections break on the
elements inside of the fiberglass. If your using them for a repeater
(which is most amateur service) and the solder becomes loose... they create
lots of noise.
You can re "gel coat" the outside of the radome with fiberglass resin and
then repaint with a non metal bearing paint.
