Bill I use the arms on my 89' US tower. While they are not mandatory it does make it a lot easer to allow the tower to come down unattended. Without the arms the coax and rotor cables are so close to the tower they could get caught in the sections and become damaged. Since I have the remote control option it makes it a must have for me.
