My gut has always told me to stop at TWO sections above the house bracket. Then
I put a short mast in the rotor and mount a fairly small tribander about 2 feet
above the top section. My house brackets have always been mounted with 3 to 4
inch lag bolts directly through the siding into 2x4 studs. Every year during
the contest season, I put up a second [multiplier] tower bracketed to the house
in this way. The bracket is just under the eaves at 20 feet and there is a
10-foot section and a pointy top section above the bracket. The base I use for
this temporary tower is the Rohn BP25G secured with three 2-foot drive rods
DR25G. See http://www.rohnnet.com/rohnnet2001/catalog/pdfs/25G/25G-14.pdf. The
base, two bottom sections and the house bracket remain in place year-round. By
the way, when these parts are not being used as a tower, they are called a
"ladder" - just in case the Zoning Enforcement Officer ever stops by.
