Over 25 years ago I asked the people who MAKE the Nicopress
sleeves about using them on 1x7 guy strand.
They had never tried it and went out and obtained some 1x7 EHS
and made numerous tests.
One Nicopress fitting ALWAYS failed before the 1x7 guy strand.
Two Nicopress fittings USUALLY held but they had a couple of failures
of the two-fitting setup before the 1x7 guy strand failed.
Three Nicopress fittings were ALWAYS stronger than the 1x7 guy strand.
I thought I had saved that letter but I have yet to find it (looked a few
years ago). Hoping that with the move to Texas that it might resurface
as I go through EVERYTHING before throwing out a lot of stuff.
I am also looking for the reprint from IEEE Antennas and Propagation
about running multiple verticals in parallel (omni) to reduce the
ground losses. That would should be easier to find--by just getting a
reprint. It also appeared about 25 years ago. Guess my filing system
(of never throwing anything away) is not perfect.
