The plate that comes with most antennas is designed to be used with 2" masts. 
 Most tower sections don't have 2" diameter legs, which means that unless the 
plate is redrilled and smaller U-bolts are used the plate doesn't snug up and 
the antenna tends to slide around...especially with longer boomed antennas.  
Also, if the antenna starts to slide around it can eat into not only the 
galvanizing, but into the tower leg.  I've been there and done that.
