| Subject: | [Towertalk] Rebuilding a Thrust Bearing? |

I've been given an old Kenpro thrust bearing, the equivalent of the Yaesu GS-065, that was rusted stiff. I've opened it up and yes, the two "rings" of bearings are rusty and dusty! My question is what is involved in re-building this item? Just cleaning out the muck, putting in new bearings and buttoning it up? Will steel wool be enough or must I do more? Thanks in advance, Eric W3DQ Washington, DC |
