Dan,
GOOD QUESTION!
I reinforced my 105CA per W6QHS+ design.
In his book, Dave Leeson (now W6NL) recommends replacement of the original
0.4375 O.D. x 0.035 in thick element tips with 0.4375 O.D. x 0.49 in thick
tubes for the driven element and 1st director. I replaced all of my element
tips with the thicker tubes.
So, the answer is:
Stock: 0.4375 - 2*0.035 = 0.4375 - 0.0700 = 0.3675
Recommended: 0.4375 - 2*0.049 = 0.4375 - 0.0980 = 0.3395
BTW, it's not in the HG 105CA manual.
