You spoke of a loose coax connector.
Do you HAND tighten them?
If so, you need to use pliers
to get them really tight.
Heat will cause metal to expand and
could loosen a connector that was not really tight
to begin with.
A bad connection can result in high SWR
which creates HIGHER VOLTAGES in the
amplifier / output network / bandswitch.
