Years ago the late KH6IJ wrote an article in QST relating his experience
moving on to a very small lot. He had a tribander at around 30ft and a
random wire going up to it and worked against earth for 40 and 80 as I
recall.
Someone may be able to trace the reference.
He worked loads of stuff.
Clearly the operator is a major factor,. but the other guys must have been
able to hear him.
Radio Communcation (RSGB) ran a series on station design for hf DX a few
years back. Many G stations well up on the DXCC tables ran setups similar to
KH6IJ, so lots of fun can be had on a small lot.
