I have a HDX555 with the cable self winder motor, had to be special
order this way and tilt option and now headed to New Jersey for $750.00.
Gary Smith at US Tower very nice to work with and gave me the Dayton
Price even after some time had passed because they failed to get back to
me on installing the self winder which is really actually reserved for
the bigger tower. I felt that since this tower will be going up and
down, quite often, just saving the wear and tear on the cables would
justify the additional cost. I don't have a total weight, but I suspect
it is somewhere in the 1300 to 1400 pounds class, and I have its new
concrete pad happily awaiting for it. There are 10 yards of concrete
and a 24 foot 4130 chrome molly mast with a M2 2800 rotor. Since my old
high gain tower has served me faithfully, for 18 years, I certainly hope
this one will give me the same service. Gene. K2QWD

Subject: [TowerTalk] Tower Shipping Costs
Some months ago there were comments on TT about tower shipping costs.
Today I received a US Tower HDX-572 with the heavy duty raising fixture,
total shipping weight 1782 pounds, distance of 1100 miles, Visalia,
California to Divide, Colorado.
Driver called me before he left Visalia on Friday morning, I was his
first
stop on Monday morning at 7:30AM.... Total freight bill was $500.
The general contractor who built my house lifted the tower off the open
bed
truck with a multi-purpose machine he called a "skid loader", took all
of
5 minutes once the shipping straps were removed.
If the ham in North Dakota who's expecting a tower delivery this week is
on
TT, your tower looks great!!
