My description of placing a Block and Tackle between
the puller and the pull rope was not entirely clear.
The hooks go to the ground and the pull rope.
Here are 3 possibilities for gin pole configurations.
1 - Standard Gin Pole with ONE pulley. For a 100 lb load,
the downward pressure on the gin pole is 200 lb + friction losses.
2 - Place the B&T between the Gin Pole and the Load which
results in 125 lbs of downward pressure on the gin pole.
3 - Place the B&T between the Ground and the PULL side of
the rope going through the single pulley of the gin pole. One
block is tied to ground, the other to the pull rope over the pulley
in the gin pole. Net pulling force is 25 lb but net force on the
gin pole remains at 200 lb plus friction.
