There has been much talk of pinholes in the galvanizing on towers or cracks from bending. Suggestions were made to examine every weld joint even with a magnifying glass before buying. Even after that some can slip by. Just to make sure, reduce painting maintenance and even extend the life of the tower, spray it with 2 coats of Derusto or Cold Galvanizing while it is on the ground. I know of towers that have been totally maintenance free for 20 years and are still counting. Grease the telescoping joints and bolts. k7gco -- FAQ on WWW: http://www.contesting.com/towertalkfaq.html Submissions: towertalk@contesting.com Administrative requests: towertalk-REQUEST@contesting.com Problems: owner-towertalk@contesting.com Search: http://www.contesting.com/km9p/search.htm |
