Hi TTalkers, These won't apply to all tower situations but if you check out
your required guy line strengths, these compression type, porcelain
insulators may be of interest and the price is right.
I believe that Press Jones mentioned these as both his Wireman, Inc and my
company sell them. They are the strain relief type so that if you had a
catastrophe the guy wires are looped together if the insulator breaks.
They are made out of dry processed, then glazed then fired porcelain. The
tensile strength is 7,550 lbs. nominal. You should determine your own safety
factor vs. that strength and again, check the required strength for your guy
lines and compare to this insulator rating.
These sell for $ 3.99 each and plenty are available. I've sold them for
years, they have no mfr. name, and they've never been a known problem to me.
They are 2.5 " long, light blue and there holes are 3/8" . Hope this is of
