Probably not absorbing the RF, but rather behaving like an over-long
reflector pointed in the wrong direction.
Actually, you should be able to check this D2 premise by examining the
currents in the various elements and their phasing relative to the
feedpoint. If there is a significant current in 15M/D2, it pretty well
indicates that it is in play when feeding the 10M antenna.
