The main problem with the GAP antennas is that
on the LOWEST BAND they use INDUCTIVE loading
at the feedpoint which is the least efficient method of
loading a short antenna.
This inductive loading is realized by transforming a
Capacitive Reactance through a transmission line
which presents an Inductive Reactance at the feed point.
K5FUV wrote an excellent review of his GAP in the
January 1995 issue of QST on page 75.
Most users report poor performance on the LOWEST
band of operation with their GAP Antennas.
