As an advisor to the local SWAT team, I was asked about keeping rifle
scopes accurate under adverse conditions. My suggestion was to mount all
vulnerable screws with a thread locking compound and paint the exposed
surface with a protective covering, like nail polish. My last rotor
maintenance used thread locking followed by painting the bolts with a
liquid tape widely available for protecting electrical connections. This
followed an overnight and retightening. The problem stems from a triad of
dissimilar metals at the contact site ( aluminum, steel and stainless).
These expand at different rates, allowing for accelerated loosening. I
haven't drilled my heads yet. This seems to work well. 73, Dave.
