Hi All,
I just refurbished an old Telrex 6el tri-bander. I took apart every =
joint, cleaned with emery cloth (about 100 grit) and an industrial =
Scotch Brite pad, wiped it down with a cloth, put ICE anti-oxidant on =
both surfaces (same folks from Indiana that make all the neat filters & =
lightening protection stuff), assembled the joint, wiped off excess =
then finished by wrapping with Scotch #33 electrical tape and gave it a =
coat of ScotchCote. =20
=20
This antenna had black and white CRUD in the joints and water in the =
balun. Was sound otherwise and is now working great at 60 ft in the =
air. OH, I had read somewhere ( NCJ I think ) that Scotch #33 or 88 =
electrical tape was recommended over that stuff that for a little while =
is sticky on one side. Believe it! =20
