A number of weeks ago, I had a cable failure on my UST TX-472. At the
time, I blamed it on lack of attention in changing cables. Further
investigation uncovered unusual wear on the motor pulley. This caused
the cable to be pinched to the point of failure. I found this to be fact =
after
avoiding a second disaster when the new cable began to shred
and break. Bruce, at UST said that pulley wear is normal, but had never =
seen=20
wear as bad as I had experienced. Steve Morris pointed out that there =
must be=20
some other reason for the failure such as mis-alignment of the pulleys.
=20
This weekend, While checking the upper limit switch on the tower, I =
glanced
down at the motor unit to find a severe mis-alignment of the upper =
pulley. It is
welded at a angle when compared to the large pulley on the motor.
=20
Anyone owning one of these units should check this carefully. I would be =
interested in
hearing if this is a problem with other installations. I posted pictures =
on the URL
www.members.global2000.net/~bbond Click on the hyperlink named "Pulley"
=20
The response from UST should be interesting. I will keep you posted...
