Let me second the note about the narrowing beamwidth of side-by-side
Yagis--at optimal gain spacing, the beamwidth halves. So if beamwidth is
an issue, vertical stacking preserves it, while horizontal stacking
narrows it considerably. Even a diamond configuration of beam has 2
side-by-side, and the beamwidth is the narrower figure. Adding more
elements per beam slowly narrows the beamwidth, making it more
controlable in design of the overall array.
