Robert ( and Steve)

I have just been through the re-erection of an older Rohn 25 fold-over. The
drawings in the current catalog are pretty good, with a couple of
exceptions. There was a significanr change in the Boom. The older ones
(like mine) had a truss construction boom, rather than the box-and-tube now
used. Mine went togetjher easily, and the boom had no surprises, except
that the location of the cable tie to the boom was not clear.

Rohn refused to tell me anything about the early model boom, and, despite
my claim that mine was fine- suggested that the easy way to get the data
was to buy a new boom assembly.

Another thing to watch is the winch- if yours is in bad shape, let me know
and I will send you some of the data I found- despite Rohns usual help
(zilch) I tracked down the original Mfg of the winch, and a couple of
others that are just as good. Apparently the original winch was a 1400 lb
model, rather than the 2500 lb now specified. The change was probably
because the R25 tower can be erected at 48 ft (base configuration) and with
either one or two additional 10 ft sections added.

If Rohn's customer contacts were 10% as good as their product, the world
would be a rosier place, at least for tower users.
