       Putting a protective coating on antennas in hostile environments is not
a bad idea. BE VERY CAREFUL about what you apply to non-metal parts. A
customer of mine sprayed his new KT34XA with spray clear urethane (because he
always does). The spray paint reacted with the Lexan insulators and cracked
them all. They all had to be replaced before it could be installed.
